EFT COUNSELLING

Having spent years counselling others and being in therapy myself, I saw the limitations of conventional counselling. It could take months and years, was expensive and often built unhealthy co-dependency on the Counsellor/Therapist. I wanted to help clients build their own personal power and develop their inner ‘authority’. EFT was one of the simplest and most powerful techniques that I learnt. I discovered that combining both EFT with my counselling skills created results and changes that no amount of talking and analysing could do.

WHAT IS EFT?

Emotional Freedom Technique is a form of psychological acupressure that uses light tapping instead of needles to stimulate traditional Chinese acupuncture points. The tapping is combined with verbalizing the identified problem followed by a general affirmation phrase. Combining these ingredients of the EFT technique balances the energy system and appears to relieve psychological stress and physiological pain. Restoring their balance of the energy system allows the body and mind to resume their natural healing abilities. EFT is safe, easy to apply and non-invasive.

EFT SESSION

An EFT session involves working with the client to establish the presenting problem and the feelings it produces. Then using this information and gently tapping a sequence of points on the body with the fingertips. The body and mind responds by producing feelings, memories or sensations, which are related directly to the current problem. Subsequent tapping rounds use this information to discharge the old memories and feelings that are causing the disruption in the body. This helps to reduce or eliminate the control the fear had on the client. As a result, the freedom generated enables the client to move forward. I see clients on a one to basis and run EFT workshops, so that clients can use it on themselves when they need it.
